If you are one of the true grognards who, after 21 years loyal service, far from retiring want to re-enlist in the Imperial Guard, the most cost-effective way to upgrade your original 2004 7 Ages to the 7 Ages Collector’s edition Classic Game is to purchase the 7 Ages Collector’s edition Classic card set and countersheet 6 and 7. This kit combines those purchasers into one easy package.
Countersheet 6 has all the new leader and extra capabilities for some of your old faves. Meanwhile the backs of the leaders are now dedicated to them, the age, what empire they belong to and what card that empire is on.
Countersheet 7 has all the new and improved artefacts (there’s 83 now in the Classic game and another 59 in the 7 Ages Deluxe Expansion set) as well as city glory and disorder markers.
This means the back of your leader and artefacts you can reserve for elite and fort markers.
The new maps have changed dramatically, they are now linen, not paper and they are hard-mounted (cardboard) and covered edges, not paper. The new maps do have some new areas that are also new start areas (like Aragon and Epirus). Epirus is the only new start area mentioned for any empire on your new Classic cards and it’s on the Macedonian card (card 15). Epirus is Illyria (K4) on your map.
If you upgrade to the 7 Ages Deluxe Expansion set, some new empires like the Aragonese say they set up in Aragon or the Kingdom of Naples in Apulia. In these cases use the co-ordinates to pick the nearest, Castille in the former case, Sicily in the latter).
Finally there are now four religious sites that religious empires gain glory for, Jerusalem (M5) for Christianity and Judaism, Mecca (N6) for Islam, Deccan (R4) for Hinduism and Buddhism and Kiangsi (T2) for Confucianism.
